Post 8 - Ordinary Man

Read the quote and the questions below and choose at least one to answer. Please include appropriate examples and create a meaningful response.

"In fact, I'm quite ordinary, but there are so many ordinary men that no one asks their opinion about anything," (p. 114).

1. This man never changes. He simply describes himself in different ways. How many different people can you be without really changing? List/Describe as many ideas as you can.

2. When can being ordinary a "good" thing?

3. What does this quote say about being ordinary?

4. What quotes can you find that support what the author is saying about being ordinary?

  1. I would be a giant, a midget, a fat boy, thin boy, a normal boy, strange boy, forien person, predator, prey, exciting, dull, strong, weak, selfish, helpful, selfless, good, evil, warm, cold, pale, colorful... and that's about all I can think of.
    Sincerely,
    The Monkey

  2. The truth is that I could be almost anything. I don't play hockey so I could be an unexperienced hockey player. Other things are being a basketball player the most hairless hairy man in the world. A basketball player (obviously) or any other sports player. I could be the most exciting dull person ever. There is no way I could list off everything, though I can not be nearly as many things as the Giant, Midget, Fat Man, or Skinny Man because of his ordinary behavior (even though I think he's quite weird) he could be any type of person you could think of.

  4. I would be the giant, the midget, normal, odd, lazy, active, fat, thin, helpful, selfish, young, old, knowledgeable, unknowledgeable, and I could go on and on and on, because there are so many personalities and opposites in the world. Like serius and silly. Or I could be the straightest crooked person ever, or the most crooked straightest person ever.

  12. I think what the quote says is that if an ordinary man thinks that someone is ordinary, they would think that they would have ordinary opinions, so they rarely ask people about their opinion.

  13. This is not a quote but I think that it seems like the media and a famous sports player. How many times do you see an average player getting interviewed as apposed to Lebron James. If I can find a quote that says something like that I will post it.
