Please read the question and creatively answer it. You may brainstorm as many ideas as you wish.

  1. I think the blank faced man could talk for a few reasons. First of all he is fiction. But maybe he has an invisible face. Or he could be a robot. Or maybe a hologram and some one some where else is doing the talking. Maybe his face got taken by a demon or is he a demon. Since there are so many other people that are not normal in this book, like Alec and the .58 kid, he seems to fit in. Like in every place they meet some one that is not normal. That all goes back to he is fictoinal. I wonder what the author thinks about how he talked.

  2. I think the faceless man talks with his magic. He has to be magical in some way to be able to breath without his nose or mouth so he must be magic in some way. I think he has a message ready to come out inside his face and that is when he uses his magic. He brings that sound out through any opening in his body and throws it out for the world to hear. I think he gets this magic from the Mathamagician who charges him a monthly fee. That is how I tink the faceless man talks.

  3. I agree with Dani. I'm pretty sure he IS a demon because he only gave Milo, Tock, and the Humbug SMALL tools to do the tasks. I competely agree with Dani about the fiction part. I noticed that his chin is a bit large, so maybe his mouth is under his chin. I also think he is part of the Unwelcoming Commitee because the next chapter is the Unwelcoming Commitee AND he's not very nice.

  4. Dear Dani,

An invisible face? What an answer!!!!! Very creative. I did not even think of that. The hologram could be interesting. What if in our dimension the hologram is not speaking and in another dimension not speaking is speaking? Hmmmm....

Also, if everyone in the novel is abnormal, does that make being abnormal normal?

  5. Dear Ben,

It would make sense that the Mathemagician would charge him a fee because that would be money and money is math. Interesting. What is he has magic pores and he can speak through sweating words through his epidermis (skin).

  6. Dear Mr. Osmonkey,

I LOVE your entry. Excellent job supporting and connecting with previous responses. I like your chin observation. Maybe it is one of those situations where just because we cannot see his mouth, it does not mean he does not have one (somewhere). Grrrrrreat prediction. I like how you connected it with the novel.

  7. Devon- I think the mouth under the chin is really creative. I also agree with Devon that he is part of the Unwelcoming Committe.

  9. I also think that the Terribe Trivium is part of the Unwelcoming commitee. I think he talks through his thoughts like the movie Eragon. In the movie Eragon talks to his dragon, Saphira, through his thoughts.

  10. He may not talk at all. Milo, Tock and the Humbug could just be peranoid. Or if he did talk he could speak it through symbols or letters, or numbers or black boards like the people of the Valley of Sound. It is sort of like the Pumpkin guy with head how could he laugh. It could be someone behind a curtain or someone with a walky talky.

  11. I think he has no face but can talk because he needs plastic surgery for is not there face. Although he thinks it is to hard to do the more important things like plastic surgery for his face.

  12. I think the "Terrible Trivium" could talk without a mouth for a few reasons.

    1. Since he's a demon, maybe he has a mouth on a different body part. In the movie James and the Giant Peach, the Grasshopper has ears on his legs!

    2. (I'm agreeing with Dani) He could have an invisible face

    3. He might be able to send messages from his mind. He could hear, but he couldn't talk.

  13. Miss Bailin,
Why would he sweat if he is not the one doing the useless tasks?
