Post 24- A Very Dirty Bird & A Man with a Blank Face

1. Describe the meeting of The Very Dirty Bird. Why do you think the Very Dirty Bird is from Context?  What does that say about language? p. 204-207

2. Why would a demon not have a face (or a blank face in this case) and be dressed beautifully? p. 208-209

3. What are the three tasks given to Milo, Tock, & the Humbug? WHy do you think these tasks were chosen? How do they play into where Milo wants to go? How do they show how he has changed? p. 209-210

  2. The tasks the trivium made them do relate to Milo because of where he is going, to rescue Rhyme and Reason who create the balance in the world. Useless jobs to not balance w/ anything that should be done.

  3. The very Dirty Bird is from context because it spoils everything you want to say like a context of a book.

  7. A demon would not have a face because it is so mean that the gods would burn it off.

  8. The Humbug's task of making a tunnel to the other side plays into where Milo wants to go, because Milo wants to get to the other side and out of mountains. Tock's task of transporting the water to another well plays into where Milo wants to go, because Milo wants to be somewhere else instead of where he already is. His task of moving the pile of sand to another pile plays into where he wants to go, because of the same reason of Tock's and the sand is rough and the time he is going through is tough and roungh.I agree with Haley, that he is dressed up to make him look like he is not a demon. I also like what Randy said," A demon would not have a face because it is so mean that the gods would burn it off." I agree with Emily on why the bird is from context. He spoils all you want to say.

  9. A demon may be dressed beautifully because evil may not always appear dirty and scary. They may be trying to trick or trap you, so they want to appear non-threatening. This would be like a kidnapper who offers a kid some candy to try to get him into a car. His face may be blank so he can create any face he wants, evil can look like anyone.
