Post 25 -The Unwelcoming Committee

1. How does doing unimportant things save trouble?

2. What does it mean when it says, "Milo, who had learned by now that people are not always what they say the are..." (p. 216). Give me an example from the novel and one from real life? Can you think of a play on words, cliche, etc. that would fit this idea? Mine is: Don't judge a book by its cover. You must find a different one. Happy hunting.

3. List the new characters we meet in this chapter and give a quick description of each one.

4. Which character is the most evil? Why do you feel/think this way?

5. Out of the characters you have discovered, which one would you most likely be able to have adopted to your family and share bunk beds with? Why?

6. Why are Unenlightened Mountains home to evil? What images do you get in your mind when you read this chapter? What STRONG, VIVID words pop into your mind? You may use some from the chapter, but then expand into your own adventure of vocabulary.

  1. Doing unimportant things saves trouble because you barely have to think to do them. I think that that is the most cruel punishment. That is why I believe the Terrible Trivium is the most cruel creature. Just think, if this beast is our president, nobody could think. No new discovery's would be made, and for Trent, no Halo!!!! What a dull boring, no fun at all world! I would hate life more than any thing else if the Trivium ruled. Although here is a question, if this monster ran for president, which party would he be in? If there is none, if he made up a party what would it be called?

  2. Ben's idea is pretty much what I was going to say. I DEEPLY have to agree that doing unimportant thing would SUCK! I agree with Ben on EVERYTHING, mainly the Halo part (NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!).

  3. #1 Unimportant things save you trouble because you spend your time doing those things that you won't have time for the worth while things that actully have an outcome.

  4. #2 My saying is "before you can judge a peron walk a mile in his shoes." In real life you can have a kid that is a real big bully and then you figure out how hard his life was and in a book i read there is this kid who is a normal school kid and when he is out of school he faces demons and monsters e.t.c

  5. # 3 I met the no-face man and he was the guy who inspired mrs.bailin to type post 24. He belives that if you do an unimportant job you won't have to do the big ones. The fear all demon was afraid of everything even ideas but isn't being afraid of everything mean he is afraid of being afraid? And in conclusion I did not do these in order but there was the misleading demon who to me seemed like a whimp...

  6. #4 To me it was the no-face guy. He was the first and first the worst. Anyways he was the closes in my opinion to having them in his grip.

  7. #5 I think it would have been the fluffy gerbal thing. He is the least evil and could be my bunk mate. I could life with that. I just wouldn't relay on him for my test answers.

  8. #6 When i pictured the creatures coming out of the caves i picture like them sticking to the walls of the caves and camoflauging and milo thinking that parts of the moutines moving and them just beleving they are dead. Well, i will tell you this superman is not going to swop in and save you milo. THINK THINK THINK

  9. We met the Terrible Trivium who basically is the king of making people do useless tasks. I would hate having to share a bunk-bed w/ him! He would probably make me count the feathers in my pillow without tearing a hole in it! That would be terrible! Another thing/ person we met was the demon of insincerity. He never means what he says and tricked Milo and the gang into thinking he was a huge, frightening monster though he turned out to just be a little puff-ball. Lastly we also encountered a giant. This was no ordinary giant, wherever he is, he magically turns into what blends in. He almost ate Milo except Milo had too many ideas for him to swallow.

  11. One example from the book for when Milo said people are not exactly what they say they are is like the ordinary man. He said he was tall, short, fat, and skinny when he really wasn't anything special. An example from real life is when people are bragging about themselves. They might say they're the best football player ever where we know they are just saying that they are pretty good.

  12. The character in this chapter that my family would be most likely to adopt is the Demon if Insincerity.
I think this because he is the only one who won't make us do useless tasks, or simply eat us! I think my family would be able to help with his problem. Although it might get pretty annoying w/ him sharing a bunk bed w/ me. He would probably stay up an hour saying he would stay up all night and then he would fall asleep.

  13. I disagree with Ben about the Demon of Insincerety tricking Milo, Tock, and the Humbug because Milo was the one that said people aren't always what they say they are, and he was the one that didn't belive the demon.
    Sincerely,

  14. I think it is the Terrible Trivian who is the worst because he makes you do stuff that is useless and it wastes your time. Anyways if you only do useless things you would be useless. I don't think anyone wants to be useless.

  18. I think that the terrible teribin is the most evil person. First of all he makes them do supid jobs and he doesn't have a face. I mean think about it if you saw a man with no face you would problely run and screem. Another thing is he has a horrible laugh and starts chasing them. I hope I never meet him.

  19. 5. Out of all of the demons we've met with in this chapter, I think I could share bunk beds with the Demon of Insincerity. He is small, so he'd be easy to handle, and you could put him in a 10 inch cage if he wasn't behaving. Also, in the video, he forgives Milo, Tock, and the Humbug for being mean and rude. I couldn't stand living with the Terrible Trivium, he'd just make me do worthless things for the rest of my life (I'd move out the second he moves in)! The giant wouldn't be so good because he's to tall and he's a wimp. I wonder how much he weighs (I wouldn't want him to be on the bunk above me!)?
